The Benefits of Membership

General Meetings |
General meetings are held once a month from
September through May. They are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month
at 7:00pm at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). At each meeting a featured speaker presents
a subject of
interest. You will also find information and sign up sheets for projects and
activities that are available to members. Books and informational material are
also available. The meetings are free and open to the public.

Training Workshops |
Continuing education for field work is
provided once each quarter through hands-on workshops on a variety of
subjects. In the past these have included drawing for archaeology, lithics
identification and animal bone identification. Training meeting are presented for a nominal charge
and have featured speakers from around the country and around the world on a
wide variety of subjects related to archaeology.

"Screenings" - the Monthly Newsletter |
The newsletter has articles about archaeology,
announcements of coming events and information on OAS activities .

OAS Training Program in Basic Archaeology
|
Six sessions are offered, at minimal cost, for
adult members to learn to effectively assist archaeologists in the field and
laboratory. The program is held in early spring and includes classroom, lab
and field sessions

Library |
The OAS library has a collection of books,
videos and reference materials that can be accessed free of charge by members.
 |
Annual Activities and Field Trips |
Archaeology projects, camp-outs, picnics and
group tours are arranged for OAS members.
